About the Journal

FOCUS AND SCOPE

Revista 180 is an international academic journal of architecture, art, and design, published by Universidad Diego Portales. The journal serves as a platform for critical reflection and the dissemination of new knowledge that interrogates contemporary ways of thinking, representing, and projecting within these fields.

The journal accepts original contributions based on rigorous research—both qualitative and empirical—placing particular emphasis on the quality of writing and the critical use of visual and documentary materials, understood as conceptual agents capable of opening new perspectives for disciplinary analysis and problematization.

Since 2005, Revista 180 has been indexed in Scopus and, since 2006, in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) of Web of Science. The journal is published twice a year in a bilingual format—Spanish and English—in both a printed edition and an open-access digital version.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Revista 180 selects articles through a double-blind peer-review process. Articles are received throughout the year exclusively via the journal’s website (revista180.udp.cl). Once the original submissions are received, they undergo a preliminary evaluation by the editorial team and the editor, who will determine their thematic relevance and compliance with the journal’s quality standards. The result of this first evaluation is final and cannot be appealed.

Articles that meet the thematic and formal requirements will then undergo a double-blind peer review. Taking into account the journal’s Article Review Form, reviewers will determine whether the article is: i.) Accepted without revisions, ii.) Accepted with minor revisions, iii.) Accepted with major revisions, or iv.) Rejected, not publishable. In the case of discrepancies between reviewers, the article will be sent to a third reviewer, or the editor or a member of the editorial committee will cast the deciding vote. The result of the peer review will be communicated to the author via email and is final and cannot be appealed.

If the article is deemed publishable with revisions, the author must submit the corrected version of the manuscript for a new evaluation within the established deadline. The editorial team will verify whether the requested revisions have been incorporated and will decide whether to recommend publication, request further modifications, or reject the submission.

Once all revisions have been approved, articles will undergo a copyediting process to ensure compliance with the journal’s formal requirements. Revista 180 reserves the right to edit all texts.

Revista 180 is a biannual publication, issued in July and December in digital format and subsequently in print.
