Abstract

The Convent Site reconstitutes the urban history of the San Francisco Church and Convent –located on Alameda Avenueby interpreting through their own transformations the form Santiago city took when trespassing its original boundaries. This article points out the role this site played between this great architectonic piece and the city in its different periods. There is evidence that the convent site underwent transformation and avoided becoming ruins as it interacted with general processes and trends that consolidated the future of the urban weaving as a whole.
