Author Guidelines
Manuscripts should range from 4.000 to 6.000 words as maximum in the case of articles (this including footnotes and excluding abstract, keywords and references), and there is a maximum of 1.000 words for reviews. The manuscripts must present a clear structure and redaction. The texts must be submitted in a Word document, in letter size and in Arial 11pt, with a spacing of 1.15. The file must be named “manuscript” and it should weight no more than 8 MB.
The first page of the manuscript must include the title, abstract (between 150 and 300 words) and keywords (3 to 5 words separated by a semi colon and in alphabetical order) in both Spanish and English. The abstract must synthetize the objectives, methodology and the primary conclusions of the work.
Footnotes should only be the indispensables, placed at the bottom of each page and not include bibliographical references.
There will be two levels of hierarchy of subtitles: one in small caps black and the other one in italics (neither should be numbered). In case of words in other languages distinct from the manuscript’s original they should be in italic. Acronyms need to be indicated by their full equivalence on its first use.
Figures and tables
The text must include figures and/or tables. The figures include images, photographs, blueprints and graphics, and they need to be sent separated in JPG or TIFF, with a minimal size of 20 x 30 cm and a resolution of 300 dpi. Blueprints must be submitted additionally in EPS or AI; tables in AI or Excel.
Figures and tables must be headed with the expression ‘figure’ or ‘table’, numbered correlatively in arabics and they need to be explicitly mentioned in the text (Figure 1) (Table 2). Figures and tables must include measuring units. Figures and tables must present a title and the complete corresponding sources. All references must be made under APA normative, and the corresponding information needs to be attached following these criteria:
-For figures or tables originated from documented registers include: author, year of publication, title of publication, city, publisher and page number. If the source is electronic then please add the exact url.
- Photographs: name of the photographer or stock images source.
- Artworks: author, year, title, type of work, city, museum or collection.
- Images in the press: author and article’s title (if corresponding), title of periodical (newspaper or magazine), section, date and page. If the source is electronic then please add the exact url.
- Figures (graphs, maps, blueprints, simulations, collages, etc.) and tables produced by authors are established as own elaboration.
In total, submit no more than 10 figures or tables. Figures and tables ought to have the corresponding authorization to be published. Revista 180 does not take responsibility for its copyrights.
Figures and tables need to be submitted inserted in the manuscript (in low resolution) and separated according to its format. Files must be named “Figure 1”, “Figure 2”, etc., and “Table 1”, “Table 2”, etc.; they should not weight more than 8 MB each.
Quotes and bibliographic references
Quotes and bibliographic references should follow APA (American Psychological Association) norms. Bibliographic references are to be incorporated at the end of the articles, following an alphabetic order. In case there is more than one reference by author, these should be arranged chronologically from oldest to recent. In case an article has a DOI number it needs to be included; these can be searched at crossref.org database. Only add bibliographical references if they are quoted in the text.
In articles, quotes and bibliographical references must comply with the following requirements: i.) at least 60% of journals of main current (Web of Science, Scopus, Scielo, etc.); ii.) at least 60% from the last 10 years; and iii.) self-quoting should not surpass 35%.
In-text quoting
In the case of in-text quoting, author, year and page(s) should be indicated between parentheses, for example: (Fernández, 2016, p. 356). All textual quotes must be within quotation marks.
